Kites have been used for human flight, military applications, science and meteorology, photography, lifting radio antennas, generating power, aerodynamics experiments, and much more. Apart from all the technical and practical use of kite flying, in India kite flying is more of a festival. People all over India fly kites in January as a part of Makar sankranti / Uttarayan which is a festival for kite flying.
